SGS Thailand, engaged the CSR volunteers in its 10th annual CSR initiative (consecutively undertaken for 10 years) under the theme "SGS Volunteer For A Good Cause For the Rural School Children" taking part in upgrading education infrastructure: library, auditorium, drinking water system, and the roadway, a key component to help facilitate quality Thai youth development.
The Company's CSR initiative is aimed at supporting education, which is considered to be a foundation for promoting and facilitating quality youth development, knowledge development, and education opportunities enhancement, all of which are undertaken under the concept of "Supporting Continuous Education in Tandem with Community Development."
This 10th annual CSR initiative, "SGS Volunteer for A Good Cause for the Rural School Children" gives a group of over 40 CSR volunteers the opportunity to engage in constructing and improving infrastructure of three rural schools in agricultural-based communities, situated in high, rugged terrain of Nan province. After a 10 hour-van-ride, the volunteers made their way to the schools, and took part in the education support activities, which include: Delivering of a library to Ban Huay Bong School, for use by both school children and the community to acquire outside-the-classroom knowledge; A multi-purpose designed auditorium for integrated learning to Pangpoei School, for use by over 370 school children; Improving of plumbing system and drinking tap water hygiene, and the roadway (improved from damaged dirt road to concrete road) for Nampai School. Given the school function of being facilities for providing education to community children and organizing community activities, the provided SGS education infrastructure constructing and improvements will help improve the quality of life for community youth, environment, safety, and facilitate community learning development.
"We always hope that our CSR employee volunteer projects will spark off the public mindset of Thinking Good Thoughts, Doing Good Deeds, and Sharing for Others, on the employees, and this positive mindset will be extended to their families, communities, and society. We all aim to develop ourselves, but must not forget to develop our environment as well; we must all together help push society to move forward in a constructive and sustainable directions," said Jirote Na Nakorn, SGS Thailand's Managing Director.
