Responsible farming and clean production is always a pressing issue and first concerned of consumer market and community organizations. For years, a number of organizations such as Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and etc., have issued standards to control and promote aquaculture and production in line with the general trend of the whole society. Each organization has different strategies and directions, but they share the same purpose for a green environment, for a civilized society, and for a better future with practical activities for sustainable development. The standards have been around for a long time, and the farming areas have also approached, implemented and maintained these requirements very early but still cannot avoid the shortcomings in the implementation and improvement of the system, in order to meet increasingly stringent market demands which set more technical barriers for businesses.
From the above, as the world’s leading in inspection, verification, testing and certification, SGS proudly holds technical seminar "Standards in the aquaculture industry - New requirements and challenges". We hope this will be a forum for businesses and stakeholders in the fisheries sector to look back at the industry's problems and find practical solutions to meet market demands, towards the ultimate goal of sustainable development.
