Food packaging plays a important role in preserving food throughout the food chain. In recent years, the development of food packaging has not only increased the shelf life of foods, but also their safety and quality - therefore bringing convenience to consumers. As with all steps in the supply chain, food packaging manufacture has the potential to introduce hazards (chemical, microbiological and physical) and contaminate the food with potential effects for consumer safety. Legislation exists in many countries to prevent harmful chemical migration from food contact materials that would endanger human health and regulations require that food contact materials be manufactured in compliance with good manufacturing practice.

The objective of this seminar (3 hrs. presentation / 30 minutes Q&A) is to inform about the international standards for food packaging such as GMP Packaging, FSSC22000 (ISO22000+PAS223) to ensure the consumer that food contact materials would be traceable at all stages of manufacture, processing and distribution by those essential systems in place to manage the regulatory requirements for food safety.
